The high-level EU mission visited BSPU

From January 27 to February 2, 2019, the cities of the Northern Azov Region (Mariupol, Berdyansk and Melitopol) were visited by a delegation of high-ranking officials of the European Union to assess the situation in connection with the escalation in the Kerch Strait and the Sea of Azov and to determine mechanisms for strengthening the support of the region, based on current programs of the EU and European financial institutions.

On January 31, the Mission attended Berdyansk State Pedagogical University. The delegation included Peter Wagner, Director of the European Commission’s Support Group for Ukraine, the Head of Representation in Ukraine of the European Investment Bank Jean-Erik de Zagon, the Head of Political Section of Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine Fabio Della Piazza, representatives from several European Commission departments.

During the meetings of the EU delegation with the administration of BSPU, students and youth of Berdyansk frank discussions of various social, economic and political issues took place.
