On October 12-16, the Second International Congress on the Anthropology of Salt took place in Los Cabos, where the Pacific Ocean meets the Sea of Cortez. The Congress hosted more than 120 researchers from all over the world. Given the interdisciplinary theme, the Congress has attracted the attention of specialists in the fields of anthropology, history, archeology, linguistics, medicine, biology, geology, geography, etc. (http://saluniversalis.com/themes/).

The work took place in the format of plenary meetings and sessions: "The Ethnoarchaeology and the Ethnography of Salt Exploitation, Distribution and Consumption", "The Archaeology of Salt in Eastern North America", "Historiography of Salt", "The Typology of Salt Production in the Archaic Societies", "Unknown, Less Known, Surprising Stories on Salt".

The Congress in Los Cabos was the continuation of the First International Congress on the Anthropology of Salt, held in 2015 in Iasi (Romania) (http://ri-urbanhistory.org.ua/en/home/12-news-en/308-first-international-congress-on-the-anthropology-of-salt-ia-i-romania) on the basis of the Alexandru Ioan Cuza University (Iasi, Romania) on the initiative of Marius Tiberiu Alexianu and Roxana-Gabriela Curcă.

Before the beginning of the Congress in Mexico, a collection of abstracts was published.
